So, take your time, look around, and learn all there is to know about us.
Meade County Republican Women did not hold a regular meeting in December as we had a Christmas party at the home of Rhonda and Bob Westman. The weather was not kind but the eating, playing games, and singing Christmas carols while Rhonda played the piano made for a very enjoyable evening.
At our January 3rd meeting our speaker was our own Beka Zerbst. She is now working with John Thune’s office as a Tribal Outreach person working with rural development, the Great Plains Tribal Council, and is helping tribal members to become first time home owners.. Our other speaker was Ed Randazzo, West River Representative for Governor Noem, who gave us updates from the Governor and plans for 2020.
We held a special executive board meeting on January 12 to discuss several items. Goals we have in mind are to create radio ads to educate people on hemp and the dangers of legalizing marijuana, listing Republican women we will personally invite to join or rejoin, virtual meetings, Lincoln Day donations, putting on a candidate forum, better utilizing the Chamber of Commerce, and sponsoring the 2 cracker barrels in Sturgis in February and March.
We have an early bird special for members that join in the months of January and February. We gained 2 new members at that meeting and since then have been inviting other new members to join. We have been well received and are growing in numbers. All members, new and old, will receive a button that was designed by our member, Sandy Rhoden. A button will be included in our member packet for new members.
Some of us will be attending the Legislative Day in Pierre soon. We are excited for that! Our regular meetings are held the first Friday of each month at noon at the Sturgis Pizza Ranch.
