Dear South Dakota Republicans,
We as Republicans want to ensure that our youth are engaged and active at an early age and voter registration is at the “top of the list”. There is a strong possibility that we all know someone who graduated from High School in 2023. While some graduates have already joined the workforce or have honorably chosen to serve our country in the military, others will be packing up and leaving for college or vocational school soon. Therefore, now would be the perfect time for us to encourage these individuals (if they have not already), to not only register to vote, but to register Republican!!!
For convenience, the voter registration application is attached to the link below for the Secretary of State’s Website for more information:
https://sdsos.gov/elections-voting/voting/register-to-vote/default.aspx
To register to vote in South Dakota, you must:
-Be a United States citizen (South Dakota Constitution, Article VII, Section 2)
-Reside in South Dakota (residency defined)
-Be at least 18 years old on or before the next election
-Not currently serving a sentence for a felony conviction which included imprisonment, served, or suspended, in an adult penitentiary system (See additional felony information)
-Not be judged mentally incompetent by a court of law
How to register:
-Print the Voter Registration Form, fill out the form, sign it, and then submit it to your County Auditor. Your Voter Registration form with an original signature must be received by the auditor 15 days before any election if you wish to vote in that election.
You may also register to vote at the following locations:
-County auditor's office, Driver's license station (when you are renewing or applying for a driver's license you may also register to vote on the driver's license application), City Finance Office, Public assistance agencies providing food stamps, TANF or WIC, Department of Human Services offices which provide assistance to the disabled, and Military recruitment offices
Through youth engagement efforts, we as Republicans can ensure South Dakota remains a strong conservative voice for America!
Sincerely,
Val Higgins & Lois Van Dusseldorp: (2023 Campaign Committee Chair & Vice-Chair)
Penny Sattgast & Juanita Schmunk: (2023 Youth Advocacy Committee Chair & Vice-Chair)
